The Game of Life
From Hasbro

True to the Board Game4
The Game of Life is as true to the board game as it could get. I remember playing this game and spinning the plastic wheel to determine how many spaces to move ahead. The PlayStation enhancemnets include a brief "movie" describing what just happened as you land on a square (i.e. your wife/husband comes out of the Church and "leaps" into your car after you land on the "Get Married" square.) This game is just plain fun, doesn't require much thought, and the regular game can be played in about 20 minutes, not hours like a PlayStation Monopoly game. Overall, an excellent game that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Wonderful game of life!4
I found this game to be very enjoyable! I especially loved the graphics! If you are looking for a game with great graphics "the game of life" would be my pick! Also, it's simular to the board game, "LIFE." One thing I didnt really enjoy about the game was how it takes awhile to fiish playing the game(about an hour). If you have a lot of time on your hands BUY IT! Over all it was great!

as good as the board game itself5
I had this game for a couple years now and is still a favorite. Everytime my 8 year old neice comes over, she always wants to play it. You can have from 1-6 people playing at one time and choice from the classic game or the enhanched game (both are fun). Bottom line- it's a great game!

Game good but a little glitchy....3
Let me start by saying im a huge guitar hero fan so im going somewhat easy on this review... The songs are good but What bothers me the most is the load time. takes forever to load between songs. The graphics are horrible and i have only had this for a week and it has froze up on me 3 times!!!!! Very glitchy... Only get it if your a huge fan of guitar hero and have no other systems to play it on ..i would recommend the 360 or ps3 not the ps2, like i said only if you have no other systems.. Although the van halen offer is cool but i have not yet to see my copy and there seems to be alot of stuff to go through to actually get a free copy....

Guitar Hero 5 ok But Free Van Halen GREAT!!!!!!3
I'm a huge GH fan and own every single one, but GH5 definitely falls short in my eyes. Yes I'm an older Metal Head, but I'm not that old. Half of these bands I've never heard of. The load times between songs is just way to long. To be honest with you the main reason I bought it was to get the FREE Van Halen offer, and yes I got my copy and it's OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!! I've read reviews about every that ticked off about the whole Wolfgang Sammy Mike thing but who cares!!!!!!!! It's Van Halen At it's BEST with Eddie and Dave. If GH5 has turned you off, don't walk away yet Van Halen will bring you back. Now if only they would make a Motley Crue, than I'd truly be in heaven.........

Guitar Hero 55
Great game. My only issue with this game is the loading time between songs. It is ridiculously long. The songs and graphics are great and a lot of fun to play if you can get past the loading time.

Lemmings & Oh On! More Lemmings (PS1)

Manufacturer Description
What's green-haired lovable and looking for trouble? Sounds like a Lemming and you've got your hands full of 'em trying to rescue thousands of the clueless little critters from gaping chasms roaring furnaces and swirling rivers. Keep'em climbing floating mining bridge building and digging - anything to keep them busy - and alive! You've gotta think fast and move even faster or it's curtains for the whole caboodle!

Good, addictive puzzler4
The Lemmings are here! And now, Lemmings, and Oh No! Even More Lemmings are back for more old-school gameplaying. The collected Lemmings titles are here for your PlayStation, and they're just as you remembered them. The gameplay is addictive and ingenious, and hasn't lost a bit of its charm (unless you played through it too many times back in the day). For those who aren't aware of what Lemmings are, here's a brief explanation. Lemmings are small "folk" with green-hair who do what they're directed to do; they walk in whichever direction you point them to; they perform tasks you tell them to; and they die if you direct them to. Lemmings, in essence, only do what they're told -- the very basis of the game. It's up to you to take them to their base before they die. Therein lies the task. The levels are designed to confuse, obstruct, and trip you up. Thankfully, Lemmings are evolved creatures, relatively speaking of course. They have diversified abilities, or tasks. These tasks range, and different levels require various strategy use of these abilities. You're given a list of Lemmings including Bombers, Builders, Bashers, Floaters, and a litany of others. The real trick is to use the right task for the right obstacle, and with accurate timing. In some cases, you might use as many as five or six different tasks to complete the mission. Since the game contains two previously released titles, the amount of levels reaches into three figures. There are hours and hours of gameplay to be had here. A normal Lemmings go-round usually lasts either only 15 minutes (a mild mental exercise), or about six hours, miminum. It's rare that anyone can actually pull himself or herself away for any shorter time.

Good For Puzzle Gamers3
This game is only enjoyable to those who like to spend long perionds of time working with puzzles. This game is a lot of fun, but only for a little while. It gets boring after you've beaten about 30 levels. The levels are also extremely hard and impossible to beat at times. If you like strategy and puzzles, get this. If you like graphics and a game that enever gets boring, stay as far away from this game as possible.

I don't want Male Pattern Baldness at my age.2
Many may consider the lemmings series a revolutionary puzzle game. In some ways it is, you take a species of morons and guide them threw an underground world of blood curdling traps. However after the first 5 puzzles you will literally start ripping your hair out in frustration. YOu will be cursing day in and day out if you even attempt to beat this. The variouse difficulties don't help either.
To maek matters worse there are no Gameshark Codes, or cheat codes in general for this, maybe thats because no one ever beat this damn thing.
I would rent this if you want to relive some good old lemmings fun, but if you have never tried this than don't bother, you will just rip your hair out.

Ratchet & Clank
From Sony Computer Entertainment

Ratchet and Clank is a fantastic new adventure starring the strangest heroes you've ever seen, in the strangest solar system ever!

Forget about Super Mario Sunshine--this is the real superstar platform action game of the season. Featuring a pair of wacky robots in a quest to save the universe, Ratchet and Clank may offer the same old basic platform scenario--run around, elude or destroy enemies, jump, and negotiate treacherously dynamic environments--but it has a number of things going for it that place it among the best titles ever in this genre.

The feature that will strike you first is the terrific art direction. Set in a science fiction future, the game has a beautifully executed retro cartoon look (think old Warner Bros.). The attention lavished on every detail, from architecture to character design, makes for a world that feels complete and real. This extends to the cutscenes, which feature a variety of colorful characters given vivid life with excellent voice acting. Then there is the sheer size and level of interactivity of the environments. For me, a particularly stunning moment was when my character was knocked off a skyscraper, but instead of perishing, landed on a ledge and was able to seamlessly navigate to a whole separate section of the game. Another moment of truth came when I aimed my blaster at one of the vehicles whizzing by in the sky. These vehicles were just pretty wallpaper, I thought, but no, the thing blew up. In fact, nearly everything you see is destructible or responsive in some way: you can jump up trees, scuttle over walkways, smash boxes, and climb up ledges. And the control scheme is just complex enough to keep things interesting with multiple weapons and the like, without being bogged down by too many features.

While the routine of finding and destroying enemy robots may get tedious after a while, Ratchet and Clank keeps things interesting with the many metamorphoses of Clank (who takes on forms that surprise even himself), cool weapons like the Glove of Doom (which unleashes armies of tiny Clanks), and shifting first-robot, third-robot points of view.

If this game doesn't become the bestselling platform action game of the year, it will prove that nostalgia for old characters, marketing hype, and brand loyalty really are more important than quality. --David Stoesz

My first review on Amazon- be nice5
I myself happen to be a casual gamer who from time to time will buy a game that looks good. I first rented R&C to see if it was worth a look and it turned out to be a really fun game.

Ratchet and Clank is essentially just another platformer, but it's a truly exceptional platformer. Ratchet is a fun character to use, he can whack enemies and various objects with his wrench or use a nice diverse amount of weapons that you obtain along the way. Gameplay for the most part ramps up from easy to difficult keeping that frustration in check, not to mention that you have infinite lives. The gameplay itself is fun with paths branching into different areas on each planet you explore. Environments and graphics are well rendered and creative and the varied enemies will ensure that you'll test out the best possibilities for each weapon.

All of this could describe several platformers but R&C one-ups them all by having some of the best voice-over work I've heard on a video game. From Ratchet's cocky attitude to Drek's villainous banter, it gives the proceedings a true cartoonish feel. The animation is nice and fluid with some truly hilarious cutscenes in between missions. Even the story, with its take on another villain trying to be ruler, has a different spin than normal. Drek's homeworld is dying so he's having other planets mined and destroyed to compensate.

Of course it would be remiss to omit the faults in the game. The one thing I really wish they could have fixed was the awkward switching of weapons. 80% of the time it won't really be a problem. But then when you need to bring out the swingshot or metal detector, for example, you need to go to a subscreen and choose it. Also a problem is when you're under fire, you can't pause and switch weapons. Really annoying! There are some control issues too. Narrow platforms can be hard to traverse sometimes. It's especially noticable when you're using the magnetic boots. Although I am surprised the camera isn't a major problem. Just hit the L1 button and it lines up behind you. There's no problems with getting disoriented either since you can access the map to see where you are and where you need to go.

For the avid gamer, there's also hidden golden bolts to find in each level. I've only been able to find a few on my own (such is the curse of the casual gamer), but it gives anyone looking for more challenges even more to do.

I highly recommend Ratchet and Clank for anyone looking for a fun platformer. It may not be the most innovative game out there, but it's a highly polished and stylish one.

OMG! Super fun!5
So this game looks like a cutesy cartoon game right?

WRONG!

This is one of the most sophisticated platform games I have ever seen, and I have been a gamer for a long time. It is a true testament to the power of the Playstation 2 that this game was created!

You play Ratchet, an interstellar grease monkey (fox-cat-furry thing) who meets the lovable and uptight robot, Clank. Clank enlists his help to save the solar system in exchange for starting up Ratchet's spaceship (which is quickly demolished). I guess Ratchet was really bored with his provincial life, because he and Clank head off throughout the galaxy in various ships collecting one of the widest assortment of weapons and gadgets I have ever seen (over 35!). They blast robots and monsters into oblivion and fight valiantly against the imperialist evildoers of the universe. The story itself is really great with fun characters, high quality animation and good solid performances!

Then there is the gameplay! Can you say PERFECT? There is this amazing learning curve that you go through when playing the game. You start off with just two weapons and simple controls. As time wears on, you get more and more gadgets and more and more movement possibilities. The world starts to blossom open, with new areas becoming available that you never would have thought of. It is so much fun.

Three words: Chicken Morphing Gun. Nuff Said.

The game is a masterful execution of what a Playstation 2 game should be. This is one you are going to want to spend some time with. It will quickly become like an old friend!

HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!

Great Story, Awesome graphics, what more could you ask for?5

Darkseid, the most evil being in the galaxy, has enlisted the aid of Lex Luthor in his quest to destroy Superman and take over the world. By providing Luthor with highly advanced Apokoliptean weapons technology, Darkseid has enabled Metropolis's reigning supervillain to create an army of nearly unstoppable Interbot robots with serious firepower.

Superman: Countdown to Apokolips offers nonlinear, mission-based gameplay that combines action, stealth, and puzzles. Based on Superman: The Animated Series on the Cartoon Network, the game gives you full access to all of Superman's powers as you roam 15 enormous, fully interactive levels brimming with usable objects. The voice acting is provided by the original cast of the animated series, and the sweeping orchestral score is worthy of an epic adventure. The game's supervillains include Livewire, Parasite, and Metallo. An advanced enemy AI makes squad-based tactical decisions in the heat of battle.

Good attempt at what will likely be more games in the future5
I see this as probably the first in a series of Superman games for PS2. I suspect it's [priced]less than the average PS2 game because they didn't include game features like multiplayer. Perhaps this was done to get it out on the market before the Xbox game.

It has many similar qualities to the original Spiderman for PS1 and so in that regard there isn't any majorly new innovation except perhaps the Cel animation- which isn't really new either since games like Robotech already do this.

Still this limited game is quite enjoyable and the implementation is excellent.

Pros:

- Beautiful cel shading in both the game and in the cut scenes.
- Cartoon series voices are intact.
- Flying thru Metropolis' Art Deco cityscape is really cool.
- Supe flies like Supe. He can do loop-the-loops!
- Supe gets most of the capabilities you'd expect: super breath, heat ray, heat burst, xray vision, super hearing, super top-spin, ground stomp, high speed flight. This provides you with a variety of ways to dispose of the villians.

Cons:
- Can't just pick up arbitrary objects- like cars, except in specific cases.
- Can't crash thru buildings in Metropolis.
- No multiplayer mode- would be awesome if you could recreate the duel between General Zod and Supe in Superman II.
- Would be nice if there is a way to quickly turn around 180.
- Does not use the cartoon series sound track.

Look, up in the sky!4
Following in the footsteps of the other great DC comics PS2 game "Batman Vengeance", Superman roars onto the scene. This is a fun game with a lot of good features and fairly easy controls. There were a few shortcomings in that it's not always easy to figure out what's going on with a particular mission (though they make strategy guides for that), but who isn't thrilled at the thought of flying through Metropolis? The thing I really wish we could have had is the chance to just free-fly through Metropolis with no mission or time limit ala "GTA3". Still the few minutes you get to go at it during the training at the beginning really make for a fun game. And the cutscenes look and sound straight from the cartoon - even better than "Batman Vengeance" - which makes it seem more like a movie than a game. I don't regret buying it, though some parts do get monotonous and aggravating. One major gripe is that you can only save at the end of a level. With each level consisting of 4-5 separate short missions, you can't quit until you finish the whole thing or you have to start all over again. This is confusing given the save function in BV is a lot better than this, but who knows? Other than that major gripe and a couple of minor ones, I would have to say this game is near perfect for a comic book fan like me.

Fun game, but lacking depth3
Superman: Shadow of Apokolips looks good and is fun to play. The game's cell-shaded graphics are quite pretty, and it's definitely enjoyable to soar above the art deco-inspired skyscrapers of Metropolis. However, the gameplay is disappointing. Combat is simplistic and monotonous. Superman spends most of his time fending off hordes of identical, human-looking "Interbots" while trying to tote around large objects for some reason or other. There are a couple of decent super villain encounters near the end, at least. The game is also very short. I completed it in about 4-5 hours, and completing the game offers no extras or surprises to add replay value.

That said, I enjoyed Superman:SoA, although I think I could only recommend it to Superman fans (like me) or kids who dream of flying like the Man of Steel. The game seems very kid-friendly and easy to control. More sophisticated gamers should definitely try renting it first.

It's fun and charming, but not up to the superhero game standard set by this year's Spider-Man. Hopefully the Superman game's creators will be able to build a more complete sequel on this promising foundation.

Metal Arms is great5
Metal Arms is one of the greatest games ive ever purchased, and ill admit that it was by accident. But when i tried it, it was fun, hilarious, and awesome. Definately a recommended buy, especially for the low price tag.

Brings Halo Gaming Goodness to the PS24
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System is absolutely awesome! Why, when I played a demo at Toys-R-Us, I was hooked instantly. My mom had to drag me out of there, and when I went back home, I went straight to this site just to check out when it's coming out(around November, just in time for Christmas :)).

Anyhow, why is this game so good?

You've got to play it to believe it. Halo fans, when I say that it brings Halo gaming goodness to the PS2, it seriously does! MA:GitS has all the right moves so that, when you play it, it instantly reminds you of Halo. MA:GitS has the best - and only the best - elements from Halo - weapons, crazy-as-hell enemies, awesome gameplay, etc. etc. etc.

However, MA:GitS is not a Halo clone. Its got it own bag of tricks, too. I mean, the plot, the graphics, the weapons: everything in MA:GitS holds as its own, even if they give even a SLIGHT reminiscence of Halo.

So, is MA:Gits going to be a hit? Should be. Give MA:GitS a try.

Do you have "Bolts of Steel?"5
I bought Metal Arms: Glitch in the System last week and I can't put it down, it's so addictive, of course the controls are somewhat difficult, but isn't that what makes all games great? (Metal of Honor: Frontline & SOCOMI&II. )

This game is insanely fun, and Hillarious, not to mention challenging, You have to recognize the enemy then figure out a way to kill it.

But being able to hijack certain enemy robots is the awesomest part of this game, you can atack the other army at no expense to you.

No doubt MA:GitS is s great game, if you can handle it! This game is definately in my top 5 games, which is a pretty good list considering there is 1. Socom II, 2. Rachet and Clankmor MA:GitS 3.NCAA 2004 4. Tak and the power of JuJu 5. Kingdom Hearts or Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

Anyone who loves 3rd person sooters should seriously buy this game, if your not sure that you want to shell out $50 just yet, rent it, no matter what you do, give this game a try, its worth every penny.

P.S MA:GitS is a whole lot like Halo for the PS2 and those who give it great ratings, do 't forget to put stars! Your hurting this awesome game.

Guitar Hero World Tour delivers more ways to play than ever before. Virtual musicians can live out their rock and roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument, or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience. In addition to all of the online gameplay modes from Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero World Tour introduces Battle of the Bands mode which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to determine who is the best of the best. In the Band modes, up to four players can jam together, online or off, as they progress through the game, and in single-player Career Mode, players can jam on any of the instruments in branching venue progression enabling them to rock out in the order of their choice.

Lost and Forgotten Are the Traditional Guitar Hero Fans3
OK, so this is a review of the game-only Guitar Hero: World Tour Playstation II game. If you're here looking to get information and feedback on the bundle version or to hear about online play, you're on the wrong product page.

This review is for those traditional Guitar Hero fans. The fans who...

1: Thought the price of a full set (nearly $200) is a little steep.
2: Play casually.
3: Do not necessarily own a next generation console (Xbox360, PSXIII).
4: Do not play online.
5: Just want to play some good songs.

This was the original targeted audience of Guitar Hero back in the day and has been up until about a year ago when Activision took over and began trying to sway the demographic to the hardcore players. The general audience of gamers who may not even have considered themselves gamers until they picked up a plastic guitar and began jamming to Carry on Wayward Son. To me, this audience has been abandoned in favor of a very specific audience that doesn't mind paying more. Marketing wise it makes some sense but along the way Activision alienated their traditional family and casual audience.

I'm sure the game is uber-fantastic on the next generation consoles with the drums, mic, and internet options but for those of us who just want to play guitar, we've been sold short.

Let us begin.

First is the soundtrack. It boasts some excellent classic songs like Beat It, which is ironic since my review on Guitar Hero 3 called for this song and everyone thought I was insane, believing the franchise should not be "Pop Hero." There are other great songs like Hotel California, Crazy Train, Eye of the Tiger, etc. There are even some decent recent ones by Haley Something and Jimmy Eats World. However, there are several issues with the selection.

For one, it is overwhelmingly songs from the past 15 years. The designers had a huge love for 90s music. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when you're trying to entice gamers from a wide-range of generations and bring in new ones on the basis of song recognition, you MUST balance your selection. It's as if the designers wanted to focus on young adults ages 13-21 and throw 22+ gamers a bone or two with Ted Nugent and Pat Benetar. This is bad marketing. Rock Band, at least, had the brains to balance their selection nearly perfectly. Very few songs prior to 1975 were used and the designers could've used considerably more.

I have a few minor issues with some of the selection of live versus recorded tracks such as Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze and Sweet Home Alabama. I thought the vocals were considerably better on the recorded tracks.

Lastly, the television advertisements showed players (hilariously portrayed by famous athletes including Michael Phelps) playing Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Segar. This excited me as I love that song, so I searched and searched all 90+ songs for it... to no avail! I should have looked on the official website for a complete track list as they didn't include it. This is false advertising. Commercials for previous installments used songs actually from the games, this game should not have been an exception. If the song is there and I'm not seeing it, someone please tell me how to get it!

Next, the game is severely glitchy. I can tell Activision dumbed down the graphics and then directly ported it to the PSXII. Many times the characters on stage will do one move then immediately change a pose or position entirely. This happens at the end of every song. I've also had the game freeze a number of times when I'm customizing my character. Fortunately, this does not delete my memory card or data... yet. Lastly, the loading time is atrocious. I thought Guitar Hero 3 was bad, this one is even worse. Just to sign in under co-op, you have to wait ten seconds for the character visuals to load even if you're already set to go. Making changes to your rocker takes several minutes and half of that is loading time.

Again, I can tell they dumbed it down for last generation systems but daaaang. This was more then awful.

My last complaints deal with the format itself. Unlike previous Guitar Hero installments, World Tour requires you to play through an entire play list to advance to the next group of songs IN ONE SITTING. This means you gotta set aside at least ten minutes to play each 'gig.' To make matters worse, the more you advance in the game the LONGER the gigs get. One particular gig took me almost an hour. This WILL alienate casual gamers as the game requires a lot of time just to advance. This is not Oblivion or some extensive RPG that requires a lot of effort, this is Guitar Hero, the game that is supposed to market to the casual gamer! The audience should never be forced to do anything unnecessary and that's exactly what this is.

To a certain degree they did keep the boss battles albeit under different rules. Instead of sending battle thingies back and forth to screw the other up, you just play and play. I still think they could have done without it. Lastly, they now make you pay money to unlock certain gigs. I think this is a big no-no especially since the songs were not even worth it unless you're a Tool fan.

Now, despite my large reservations I do have some praise. The designers did fix two major issues. The first is when you pause. Originally you had to immediately jump in the song but now you have a few seconds to align your hands. The second improvement is that you can now hoard star power in co-op and build star power even when it's deployed. This makes point maximizing that much easier.

Then there's the sound studio. I'm still trying to get it to work but I think you need the full kit. It's a nifty idea but will be lost on those who just bought the game only.

All in all, the game is not bad but the designers forgot many things. It seems as though you have to play it on a next-gen console and with the full set in order to truly appreciate it. This is bad for marketing. I'll stick with Wii Music until the prices on the sets drop like 50%. Get Guitar Hero 2 if you're new to this. It's not glitchy, had great songs, and doesn't require a whole paycheck to own.

Impressive...5
Guitar Hero World Tour lives up to it's lofty expectations. The set list is LONG and diversified ranging from metal to world music to pop and country. The introduction of drums, bass and vocals greatly enhance the games long term replay value. I am really impressed with the BASS option for the game it is spot on and very fun to play. The difficulty levels now include a BEGINNER level in addition to the EASY, MEDIUM, HARD and EXPERT options. Another good feature of World Tour is the ability to toggle between difficulty levels and still continue through the same set list. There are also some new play options for guitar/bass such as continued sustain notes and open strum notes. It took me a good couple of days just to complete the game ONE time, so you really get a good bang for your buck. I have not even gotten to the create your own rocker or song creator options yet. The Bottom Line...this is the BEST title in the guitar hero series...yet...Guitar Hero Metallica is on the horizon. Highly Recommended.

Disappointing1
For some background...

I have all of the previous Guitar Hero games so I was very excited to see this coming out (even though I'm not getting the other instruments or a new guitar). I've played Rock Band several times, though.

My purpose in the GH games is to enjoy the challenge and go for the highest score/number of stars that I can, the ultimate goal getting 5 stars on every song in the game (guitar only). If that's how you play the game, here are some observations before you buy. First, the bad:

- They totally changed their format and unsuccessfully tried to copy the setup of Rock Band. I liked the format before that included the vertical list, unlocking songs, etc. in a natural progression that was easy to see on screen and follow; you always knew what you'd accomplished. That is no longer the case.

- Fonts: I have a large TV, but all the on-screen fonts and texts are WAY too small and very hard to read! I have to squint to read songs lists and stars acquired. They could have trippled the font sizes and still had room for the bad graphics.

- Load times/Navigation: Loading the game takes forever, transition screens take forever, and there are extra confirmation screens that do nothing but add time to the eternity it already takes to get somewhere. This was a growing issue between GH2 and GH3 and I was shocked to see it got much worse.

- Song Groupings: The songs have virtually nothing to do with each other. In the other games they had basic themes (e.g., 'British' bands, 'Easy' bands, 'Punk' bands, 'Heavy' bands, etc.) and the difficulty was well done in a steady progression. They also, more or less, chose good songs. World Tour is the opposite on all counts, and there was one instance where one of the easiest songs of the game was paired next to one of the hardest. It's ridiculous.

- Difficulty: As a whole, these songs are MUCH easier than the previous GH games, but this is probably because they had to dumb it down for the other instruments for mass appeal. Regardless, for those of us that helped make the guitar-centric game so popular it's WAY too easy when compared with the older games. (And in my opinion, the songs that ARE hard aren't good songs so the motivation to play them over and over again isn't there...)

- Song selection: While I know it's totally subjective, I need to vent a bit. I think GH3 had the best soundtrack, period. There may be a lot of songs in this game but compared to the previous GH releases I think there are a lot of BAD songs. Check the playlist carefully and really consider it before buying. I kept waiting for a song to give me some crunch and there was only one or two in the whole game.

- Stars and progress: GHWT uses archaic, miniscule skull graphics, tiny stars, and small numbers to hint at which difficulty you played the song and how you did. Gone are the days of achieving higher progressions and knowing where you're at by selecting a difficulty level. My way of playing is obviously not the same as everyone, but my goal is to get 5 stars on every song for every difficulty. This new format makes it virtually impossible to easily track that on the main song menu when compared with all the previous games.

- Tool: I liked the concept of the Tool-only gig and the graphics in the background were a nice change, but the three songs they picked were almost identical. That band has some very different stuff so even though they were fun to play I was pretty disappointed as there wasn't enough variation to keep it interesting, especially since those songs are so long.

- New Guitar: Playing the notes on the neck is a pretty cheap gimmick to try and compete with the Rock Band guitar (which has buttons in the solo position on the neck). If I had the new guitar I wouldn't use them anyway as the placement of those special notes in the songs isn't very conducive.

And now, the good:

- They changed up the star power so that you can accumulate it when it's already triggered. This is a great improvement.

- Pausing: You can now pause the game in mid note and there's a countdown and you can resume in mid-note without a hitch. This is fantastic.

- Bass: They added a whole bass section, which is sortof a fun twist to play.

All in all, if I were to choose a band-centric game I'd choose Rock Band or Rock Band 2 hands down. They've got a better soundtrack, the graphics are better, it's crisper. For those of us who are achievement-driven and guitar-centric, this game is going to gain some serious dust on the shelf. Let's hope they redeem themselves with the Metallica release in the Spring...

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2
From Atari Inc.

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 takes you into new challenges like no other DBZ game before!

The time has come to go beyond the Dragon Ball Z sagas and experience the full force of the most powerful fighters in the universe. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 will challenge players like no other DBZ game before. Begin with an all-new single player "Dragon World" that opens the story to new match-ups, surprising character appearances, and missions that will amaze. You can also battle your friends in multiplayer "VS." and "Tournament" modes. If your will and skill prevail, you will come face-to-face with Buu, the most lethal of all DBZ villains. Do you have what it takes not only to survive, but to dominate?

Budokai 2 Looking Good5
First of all I would like to point out that the game will NOT be 3-D. It will be cel-shaded because that seems to be what everyone is doing now. But one amazing thing this game will have is a fusion capsule. It will enable you to fuse any two characters in the game!! The game will contain 34 characters in all including the ones from the first Budokai. I'm pretty sure this one will have Majin Buu, Kid Buu, Super Buu, Videl, Dabura, and for some reason Dr. Gero although it would have made more sense for them to put him in the first one. And don't delete your data from Budokai from your memory card because all of your skills will be transferrable to Budokai 2. One thing they decided to change is the Story Mode. Sadly there will not be a Story Mode to Budokai 2. It will be something called Dragon World. You and your party of 3 more people will go around the world and search for Dragonballs but if you meet up with a villain who wants the Dragonball you must fight him. You can let the COM fight him or you can fight him yourself... And you will actually get a reward for finishing the Legend of Hercule. I was never informed on what the reward is though. Nor do I know what you will be doing in the Legend of Hercule mode this time either. But I can tell you from searching for it on the net that your character will move more swift, the blast will be bigger and cause more damage, and the new battle places like Capsule Corp or Orange High School (Where Gohan goes to school), will be MUCH more destructible if you happen to be knocked through a wall..... Or 5 or 6....... If you'd seen the clip that they had up at dragonballz.com then you know what I mean. But no doubt Budokai 2 will be something worth waiting for. Pre-order yours from amazon.com now!!

This Game'll Rock!!5
This Game Will be better than the first the new characters will be supreme kai videl adult gohan dabura super buu kid buu majin buu goten young trunks and android 20 . You know when your opponent shoots an ultimate move at you and you just needed one more puch to defeat him? well now you can shoot back his death beam or whatever just by pressing a button faster than your opponent!!sadly i don't think they made it so you can fly without getting hit though And that's not the worst part they got rid of story mode!!!!! but they did add a few new modes like survival mode and training in babidi's ship and last but not least Dragon mode dragon mode is you and 3 other characters go searching for the dragonballs against the computer when you and your opponent are on the same square you have to fight him or let the comp do it for you the loser has to stay in the square for 1 turn in short it's a dragonballz board game that's all i can remember about the game now for pics of the game go2 gamespot atari and dbz.com
Cya!

Very Fun Game5
I recently got my hands on this game, and have enjoyed it very much. The animation is well done, as is the voice-casting (which is a frequent problem in video games). Also, the Dragon World story mode is much more fun (if not a bit repetitive each time through) than Dragon Ball Z: Budokai I's.

The game has a good variety of characters, and has all of the main characters. I had hoped such villains' as Garlic Jr. would find themselves in it, but that did not happen. The gameplay is very good, the fighting is fun. The game isnt at all easy, but its not impossible. That is part of what makes this game fun. Also, this game provides an excellent selection of moves, powerups and more.

What can get a bit frustrating is trying to unlock certain special functions (fusions, breakthroughs and some ultimate attacks), which require you to go through the story mode one full time, for a chance to get what you are looking for. Since the story mode is fun, this isnt a big deal.

The World Tournament mode is fun and requires a different mindset for fighting. If you're knocked out of the ring, you lose, so you have to avoid edge and maybe even try and knock your opponent out, and get a quick victory. The prize money for coming in first or second can be used to purchase new techniques in the skill shop. The game also includes duel mode (a one on one battle with any character) and training mode (to hone your skills against an immobile, mobile, attacking, defending, or any sort of opponent you like). Training mode is very helpful for committing moves to memory, especially more complex moves like Goku's Ultimate Spirit Bomb attack.

The game has about 29 characters, including Goku, Gohan, Trunks, Vegeta, Piccolo, Goten, Videl, Yamcha, Frieza, Cell, Buu and many more.

If you like unique fighting games, then you will like this one. If you like Dragonball Z, then you will like this one. This game comes highly recommended, and I hope a third one is not far in the making, with a much expanded cast.
